more

Earth was moved by the farmers bucket, saved a lot of time :good:

We ratted at two spots, either bolting them with a smoker and leave blower, or we dug them with spades and later with the farmers tractor. The bottom picture is of my 8 year of Patterdale direct from Brian Nuttall, shes my pride and joy, perfect temperament.

:good:

nice pics mate. does smoking them kill them in their burrows or just make them bolt for the dogs? I've often thought about using a petrol leaf blower and just using the xxhaust to make rats bolt.

Thanks for the replys boys, some rats decide to stay in the warrens, a few die, others either hide underground or bolt and take their chances. We use a leaf blower aswell but have more success with the smoker, putting the blower in after the smoker gets it spread around. Digging to a dogs mark is good teamwork but the tractor did make things a little easier

Pan i'd love to get the action shots you do but most of the time the photos are pretty crap ;)

good set of pics [bANNED TEXT] like the look of them terriers. how many if any rats get away when they bolt? :good:

The vast majority are caught by the dogs, the odd one or two escape down other holes and can't be dug or bolted. Need a few for next time

Nice one mate.......Looks a great day........Cant fault the JCB.... :D

Cheers Taffy, first time we have used it, normally spades and smokers. Didn't half save some back ache from a days digging. Not sure how the farmer would react if you brought one on a proper dig   :11:
