Am a little concerned

The favorite of m'pack is only a little 'un and has always spent a lot of time ligin' about, but when out she is like something possessed. Lately she is sleeping more than usual and seems to have some redish, non moving, flea sized things on her and is scratching a little. Would appreciate any thoughts

what bedding are you using mate if its straw that holds a lot of mites better off with hay or shredded paper cheers

They might be a little too small for a photo, but will try. They remind me of those red mites you get but dead and not as red :wacko: Could they be niks from when they are all messing about (I say this because m'terrier had these when the pup had her milk teeth, little scabs) Will sort the straw.

just noticed a similar thing today so il be taking all the straw out tomorrow and replacing with sawdust and treating the ferrets, will try find out what they are to

before blaming it on the straw, could it be RED MITE, although mostly linked with birds, Ive had these is the court, they live in cracks in the woodwork, so changing bedding wont mean getting rid, they come out and night to feed on the host, little red dots is what they look like, squashed with the thumb, they just leave a little red dot

I had exactly the same thing with my ferrets yesterday they were scratching alot and sleeping more than usual so i hosed all thair cages out, changed the bedding and give them a bath in a bucket of warm water and used T-Gel shampoo and you could see all the mites coming off in the water and were there was red, raw - looking skin before is now nice and healthy i couldnt believe it i think ill be getting somne more T-Gel for them .

Try it mate, it worked for me .

Isn't it Duramite ? you could use on red spider mites but they have stopped producing it now ??

My Dad noticed a couple a few weeks ago so i took the straw out and replaced it with old wooly jumpers they love 'em in the sleaves lol
