My 2 golden rules are;

 

It must be FUN for your youngster.

 

Always quit whilst its mad keen (and start up again later).

 

Though type in the search.....

i am at the same stage in my pups training, just keep it simple and to a short period of time at first and plenty of paitence. just got mine retrieving in the garden over a scafold boards

Just throw it something its intrested in and call it back to a treat

i started with a sock and moved on to dummy then rabbit skin covered dummy then a dead rabbit. just keep it short a few retreives a day increasing the number as the pup gets older. i then start taking my pup out with the air rifle and shoot feather and fur get them retreiving that aswell but just dont over do it.

make it fun for the pup, give it a treat when it retrieves then it should get used it it mate, always works

Just be careful you don't start it dropping short by giving it a treat everytime it comes to you
