SEAN3513 7
hi has any body got a bsa xl tactical in 25 cal .i saw a gud pice in air gunner awhile ago that made me want 1 jus wonderd if anyone has one befor i go to buy one .cheers great gun mate.....but i would avoid it in .25 ( pellets are hard to get and more expensive) .177 or .22 just my opinion cheers sean Quote Link to post
C3PO 118
And very loopy trajectory too. Here's something I posted elsewhere, at FAC levels, but gives you good data: I ran a few figures through chairgun for two set ups as shown below: .22: 32ft/lb, Weihrauch Magnum 22-grain pellet .25: 50ft/lb, Beeman Kodiak 31-grain pellet Trajectory is below (blue is .25) At various ranges, the power levels are as follows: .22 30 yards: 27ft/lbs 55 yards: 22ft/lbs yards: 18ft/lbs .25 30 yards: 40ft/lbs 55 yards: 34ft/lbs yards: 29ft/lbs So, fairly similar trajectory but with greater energy in the pellet for .25. The trade off is, of course, shot count etc...and whether you consider 18ft/lbs at yards to be insufficient for a good kill. Interestingly, with the .22 set up, 12ft/lbs is achieved at 140 yards, and for the .25 at 210 yards (be careful verminhunter!) For like-for-like muzzle energy comparisons (32ft/lbs for both), the graph below shows the much loopier nature of .25 (again in blue) For 12ft/lb legal limit rifles, using the same pellets, the trajectory of .25 with a 40 yard zero is too unforgiving really (.25 in blue again): Hope this is useful. ChrisJones 7,975
I've had the standard Lightning, in .25, and I loved it. Range is effected because of the heavier pellet. The wallet is effected because they're more expensive pellets. The sanity is effected because the pellets are harder to get hold of. I used mine for close range ratting and it was devastating. Trajectory wasn't a problem because of the range but I preferred it to the Crosman offerings. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
You make no mention of why you actually want a .25....... so to reply generally... ...the 12ft lb, .25 is "possibly" the best ratting tool you can buy... ....I think you will struggle to find anything else it is any use for!!!!
