30 CAL DEER RIFLE

Recommended Posts

I choose 3006 because i am living in sweden and moose and bear may be an option and old 06 with heavy bullets 200-220 grain would be better.

Hi Dan, Moose and Bear sounds like a nice combination - just to give you a flavour, this was me last night after an arduous evening 'Bunny Bashing'! I've a .22 rifle with a moderator that's ideal, plus an HW100 air rifle which is just as good! Hardly big game hunting but I thought it would give you a laugh!

Hi

I am sure it is easier to shoot a bear or moose than shooting fast runing bunnies :D . i remmember when i was young i had an anschutz 22lr and had realy fun with it. i have heared thay have reintorduced moose to Scotland. who knows maybe one day you need a good moose slayer in UK :) .

cheers

.308 i would recommend for the simple reason many rifles are made in this calibre, it's got a great bullet choice, widely available, easy to reload if you take that path,

and is a proven accuracy round....... what more do you want than that.......

Frankly... I wonder about the original question :hmm:

But that is about the best reply possible in the circumstances, hits hard, useable, versatile, readily available, lots of choice, does the job and cheap!!

.308 will do for most things, i think it is very good..

308 is a very good choice . it can even be used for eventuel moose hunting :D in scotland. and one of good CRF rifles like ruger or cz will be great too. i like ruger because they have 1/10 rifling twist in their 308 barrel which is needed if monometal long bullets like Barens X are used for huntung. the stansard 1/12 twist in 308 wouldn't stabilise them well.

regards

dan
