Well, assuming we have a springer, and a pcp both of which are running within legal limts (for sake of illustration lets say they are set at 11 ft/lb), then they are going to be the same.

I.e., 11 ft/lb is 11 ft/lb, no matter which of the 2 rifles the power is eminating from - as Shakespear said 'a rose by any other name would smell as sweet', type of thing.

On the other hand, if you you had the same two rifles on an FAC, then which is the most powerful would wholly depend on what power you had them indiviually set up at? But, if i had to make an educated guess, i would say that a pcp would be capable of putting out more power - simply because when you get down to the bare bones of it, a springer will only be capable of producing the maximum amount of power that the mainspring is able store up within itself - and i am sure that there is more of a limit there.

Whereas, with the pcp, the power is not stored in a mainspring, but relased and measured by valves, and so the power able to be released would, i guess, be somewhat more? Again there will be a limit to how much these valves can be adjusted, but i would think that a pcp wouldn't be as limited as the springer.

These are just my first thoughts on your question, and i am not 100% sure on it, merely just following what seems to me, to be a logical thought process. If anyone knows more, it would be interesting to see if what i am guessing/saying is true.

a new gun for the least money, most power and most accurate........... :hmm:

if you find one ley us know...............lol.

depends how technical you want to get..............with an FAC air rifle set at say 40ft/lbs would not perform as well as a 12ft/lb rifle without having other modifications carried out.

its all about the lock time ( the time it takes from pulling the trigger to the pellet leaving the barrel)

having said that, i've seen someone with a £1000 rifle being out shot by someone with a £100 rifle.

its all about the ability of the shooter............and confidence with your gun.

any decent air rifle available today will be between 10 and 12 ft/lbs.............more than enough for general licence quarry.

good luck

all the best
