number 1 lamper 0
I think if you lower the entrance fee you may get more interest as not that many people have out an out rabbit dogs so they probably see it as throwing £50 down the drain. Also i think people are not interested in winning the money they just might enter for the crack and to meet a few lads of here. IMHO Id be interested myself but not for £50 entrance fee as my dog doesnt stand a chance against some of the dogs with a lot of whippet blood in them. get ready for trash the best in essex Link to post

The £50 entrance fee is there to get rid of people who say they'll be in it then not bother turning up.... ...... it goes part way of ensuring that people who enter really want to try their dogs against others, no disrespect but the fee also eliminates people who like yourself and others, openly say their dogs aint that good on rabbits....there's no shame in that, in fact its refreshing to see people being honest about a dogs ability, this isn't a serious competition or the entrance money would be alot more!!!!!!!!! The way its going it'll be £100 in for tomo, markbrick, woodga and me, winner takes all!!!!! I seem to remember more people being up for it a couple of seasons ago, must be a sign of the times!!!!!! LDR 29
as some people will be thinking price is to steep i know what you mean about them turning up but how about refunding a bit on the day they turn up and if they dont then it gose in the pot just my thourt wish i had a dog id be in it to meet people The entrance fee is the pot for the winner and runner up, minus a bit for charity and the final for a hotel for the finalists!!!! if you just want to meet people you can get nights out easy mate!!!!! chartpolski 23,562
£50 is nothing for a competition like this, I would pay £50 for a decent nights lamping, on permission, and no worries about what me and LDR normally have to put up with ! The serious blokes will not worry about £50, probably costs alot more in diesel to get to and from their lamping/coursing grounds ! Cheers. Link to post
Guest joe ox
£50 is a reasonable entrance fee, unfortunatly I dont have a dog capable of getting me past the first round :11: if my youngster makes the grade I would be up for it next season. I will help in any way I can with the running of the competition Link to post
bullet 125
i think its a great idea, if i was still running dogs then i would be intrested, but your right by saying "sorting the talkers from the walkers" Link to post

I will help in any way I can with the running of the competition Joe, my bitch probably wouldn't get past the first round, against these supa dupa lamping dogs, but I'm willing to match you for a fiver, if you come and pick me up, take me to you lamping ground, bring me home, and let me keep what we catch !!! Cheers Link to post
LDR 29
if this gets off the ground and there is no reason it shouldnt surely they must be 32 dogs in Britain capable with owners willing to back them at £50, i could give LD THE ADDRESS Of a company that makes presentation jackets with lettering for around the £50 mark, maybe THL All Britain Lamping Championship, would be nice for whoever wins to have a keepsake, also maybe a decent size cup to be handed over yearly if it turns into an annual comp , maybe a small trophy, tankard for the runner up, this could be paid for out of the entry fund, a lurcherlink donation is an exellent idea ie give something back, imo if most rounds and final are put on video maybe if these were sold at £10 each all monies could be donated to lurcherlink, ie 200 sales £2000 nice sum for any charitable organisation. So come on all the Talkers get your dogs entered and lets see what you have got, after all there is always plenty lampers knocking the coursing lads-dogs WHO have the balls to run in comps, this is your chance to do the same for your dogs in their chosen sphere. goodluck LD i really hope this takes off like i said earlier if entered my tip to do well is a coursing bred poodle type lol be worried Mark very worried lol.ie im sure ian b has very good recording equipment im sure he would film some rounds if asked. Again goodluck to all who enter. Max i remember when you first put the idea up a while ago and i seem to recall a fair bit of interest, must be a new core of members who aint really upto the challenge, like you say the coursing boys get slagged, but i bet they dont quibble over putting up £100, £500 a £1000 on a simple best of 3 runs on the day, the cup thing would be good, getting passed on each year with your dog engraved on a plaque, lets see if it happens, everything is in place, will have a paypal account ready for entries, god knows there's enough people bigging their dogs up, you wouldn't think it'd be a problem to find 32 people who rate their dogs!!!!!!
