Lightforce Lamp Dimmer switch

I bought a Lightforce 170, meant to be with the dimmer, for which I paid additional cash and not insignificant amount...

 

I know some folks on here have the one with the dimmer - is it an add-on, or integral to the lamp. I.e. if I use this with the on/off before I get the dimmer sorted, can I just get the dimmer sent out separately and then tack it on, or do I need to send the whole lot back?

i thought the dimmer was on the back of the lamp built in

the dimmer switches are already fitted to the lamp, on the back
