Fox 'Squeeking'

Recommended Posts

Iv'e been out 'Foxing' a lot over the last 6 weks.

I shoot a .270Win Browning A-Bolt Medalion + Leupold LPS 4,5 14x50, for the 'Fox' 110gr V-Max Hornady on 59grns R22, Plus Wildcat 'Predator-8' sound moderator (dogs Boll**).

I have noticed that the Rabbits are the thing to watch when waiting in your concealed location, they are better qualified to 'see' for you, last Tuesday I saw four or five stop feeding and stand up in a 'worried' stance, I thought they had seen me, but No. Foxy came lurking up the mown hay edge in the direction they were looking, bad luck Reynard I saw you first, dear! dear! .270W is really a bit fierce for dog sized mammals but at least I only have one centrefire (Police pleased I'm Sure?). (.22RF + .17HMR)

LOOK at those Coney's boys, they are they are eyes and ears for you.

Anybody got a Foxpro FX5? I'm going 'Hog' hunting in Tennessee in September and intend to buy a FX5 when there, what is your experience? More specifically is the 'Long Range' remote control any good?

Were you at at the Blenhein Palace CLA? Saturday was 'kin hot wasn't it.

Useful tip Andy.

Talking of animal's reactions, I was out this evening trying to call a fox using the Callmaster. Suddenly the horse in the field behind my permission started snorting and running about. I couldn't see into the his field from my position but was pretty sure a fox had come into his field and he was reacting to it. Unfortunately, the horse's owners then came rushing out from their house to calm their baby, the fox obviously disappeared and they then spotted me and came over to the fence shouting the odds about how my shooting (I hadn't shot anything!) was upsetting the sodding horse. So close but so far.

I use an older Foxpro mainly for ambush especially if used with a decoy; I use a rabbit skin over a frame. Have heard for some who put a gizmo which makes it move from a kids toy to keep the attention on the decoy itself, (I’d like one but as I don’t frequent toyshops any more!! another story) point is Foxpro does what it says on the tin in certain circumstances.

Also used it on front of vehicle, lamp as usual when you spot used Foxpro I have had marginal success with this method as Charlie is very wary at this point, personally I’m erring on the traditional method.

Hope this helps, I like them but get one which you can insert live distress calls, mine has an mp3 input jack; the sons not best pleased but who paid for the mp3 player. :big_boss:
