iv got a ferret that could do that what does that prove ?the dog dont have to use its nose the badger cant get to the dog and he is in unfamiliar surroundings i'd pretty much say the odds were stacked against him put him in a tight spot for 3 hours wi old brock where the dog knows his owner aint gonna be there to pull him straight out and lets see who lasts the longest.

This how they test terriers in Russia. The dog is supposed to get a hold of the badgers neck/throat and pull the badger out of the artificial set.

These badgers are used for this for many years, so they are familiar with the set and what is about to happen.

Dogs who are not trained or a weak, wont be any succesfull against the badger.

Animals rights aren't what the russians care much about.... not many tree huggers in russia I guess :whistling:

I've seen video of this with a smooth haired fox terries to, infact the stud I used on my bitch is a Russian champion on this trial and I've seen video of him pulling a badger through these tunnels.

This is not allowed in Sweden or Norway. In Norway the fox is in a cage so there wont be any contact between the dog and the fox.

Same thing in sweden, but there they use badgers, not allowed to use fox.

But in sweden there are trials on fox in a natural den.

This is how a artificial den looks like here in Norway and Sweden, seen from above.

The fox or badgers is in a cage to the left and the dog can run free in the tunnels.

It's not allowed to support or give commandes to the dog during the trial, atleast here in Norway or in Sweden.

The dog can see the fox/badger at 3 points. Up left, middle and down left. In the middle the dog must jump up atleast 60 cm, u can see it in left corner of picture.

Terriers are supposed to be "flushers" and are supposed to give short attacks with barking, maximum 5 mins, at those 3 points. The dog are given maximum 20 minutes to find all 3 points.

Dachs/teckels can be both "flushers" and also "hold at bay" laying in front of 1 point giving steady bark for atleast 15 min.

In a "hold at bay" trial only the down left point is open, the other 2 are closed, and the dog is let into the den on the top of the picture.

Its supposed to run silent through the tunnels and only give bark when it faces the fox.

This is roughly explaind how the trial works here in Norway.
