locator batteries

Recommended Posts

I got a new locator and put new batt in the unit and the collar. However it seems to be lacking in power. This was 3weeks ago its just been laying doing nothing.Should i have removed the batteries from the collar and unit?Would it do this or is there something wrong with locator.

i always take my batteries out after the day mate, but you can turn the box off so dont know why the box would have run out but the collar is on constant in the mk 1 anyway so maybe thats why pop a new battery in it and try it if its still the same then it will be a problem with the locator.

as yours was an e bay buy, it probably didnt come with the instructions, the battery collars can be left in for short periods of time, without draining the batteries, simply by not closing the collar back together, but leaving the batteries half showing, handy as you can insert the batteries at home, before ferreting, then if its a long drive, your not wasting the batteries, simply push the collar together before putting on the fert, but longer periods of time, ie between ferreting trips, always take them out, the same goes for the 9volt

Get your self into a routine mate after you get back in from ferreting see to the ferrets ,hang the nets up them take the batteries out the boxes and collars deal with the bag then go for a bath .Works for me

Are we talking about the Mk 1 ? i buy cards of cheap AG12 and AG13 collar batteries and use them once and bin them, the locator has an on off switch so in theory when you switch off there should be no drain on the locator battery.I always make a point of using quality batteries i the locator.

Never had a problem with the 9v PP3 receiver box batteries.I'd say dodgy battery or dodgy box somehow draining the battery after being switched off.As has been said, always remove collar batteries and try and keep all equipment in the house in a constant temp.,there's nothing worse for killing off any battery than very warm or very cold temps.

£11? :icon_eek: you really,REALLY should shop around.

I know mate i did try boots and they didnt have the wee batteries,so i bought a duracell 9v for 4.99 and got the collar ones from timpsons they were 3quid each.Working now so panic over.I will take em out from now on when not using it.Tomorrow im gonna try the locator for the 1st time tomorrow.Well im taking it with me hopefully i wont need to use it :tongue2:
