Double rifle club

Are there any clubs in the uk that offer target shooting with double rifles.I've always had an intrest in these Gun's.

I just dont really have big game on my premssion so I was thinking of a club.

Hmmm.... all I can think of is the Express Rifle Association, an offshoot of the BASC, so if you're a member of BASC, you're also a member of the ERA. It doesn't just deal with doubles though, any action from about .350 and up. Mostly bolt actions, some single shots, and a few doubles.

 

Best way to shoot lots of doubles is to work for Holland & Holland for a few years, like me!!!

 

I got to know the regulators, and they got to know me, and that I could shoot. They don't really like shooting the big doubles when they're regulating them, as they recoil so much, and some rifles take a lot of regulating!! I used to turn up when they had a few big ones to regulate. I used to do the shooting, and they used to do the regulating!! Great fun!!

 

I've shot all sorts... from .375 H&H Flanged all the way up to .700 H&H Nitro Express. My favourites were the .450, .475 and .500 Nitro, as they were the most elegant. .577, .600 and .700 get too bloated across the action.
