you need to handle them as much as possible, and I dont just mean picking up and putting down, whilst holding them, hand clenched around them, just behind front legs, use the other hand in the same type of grip, only a lot looser, to stroke the entire body, whilst running/pulling your hand in a downward motion, right to the tip of the tail, whilst holding them inspect their feet, ears etc as they need to be used to this, as after each ferreting trip, you'll want to inspect them for ticks, run your hands all over them, they really need to get used to it, being affraid of getting bittern, will only get worst if you dont handle them enough, at the size they are now, its not going to hurt, like it will in a couple of months if they are not used to you, and if it gets to a stage where your frightened to pick them up, then you may as well give up ferreting

Aye you need to get in about them as much as possible 3/4 times a day picking them up ,putting them down and stroking them do it as much as you can when there young as it pay's off later

i gently move them about in my hands and pass them to right to left to try and simulate being picked out of the rabbit hole and till this day i have never been bitten by a ferret you watch ill go out tommrow to feed them and get bit lol

lol well post a pic.I remember lifting a ferret when i was a kid.Latched on to my thumb swear it was the sorest f*****g thin i have ever expierenced.Prob the reason i keep poleys.Its the only time i have ever wanted to see a dead fert :whistling:

Last season one of my silvers had bottled up a rabbit a couple of feet inside a burrow i reached in and grabbed the rabbit the bitch grabbed me by my palm after i got the rabbit out i'd four teeth marks in my palm and they bleed like feck i was wary of that jill the rest of the season
