Guest Ditch_Shitter
Why aren't you asking ye local Police Station about the latest, basic laws? You want a .223, ye'd better know a site more than " I am. I have. I 'wont'. " Are ye legally entitled to own an air pistol? ..... Phone a friend ....? Quote Link to post

At your age you can have an SGC with no problems as long as you satisfy the criteria they are looking for, namely; You fill in the application form honestly and fully. You send them a cheque for £50. You get someone of standing who has known you personally for at least two years to sign your application form and sign one of the photographs. If all goes well, you will have a visit from your FEO within a short while, I take it you are going to put your fathers address down? So that you can share your stepmothers security arrangements. If the FEO is satisfied with the security of the guns and the property and satisfied that you are a suitable person then he will submit a positive report to the Licensing Department. The FEO will more than likely insist that he contacts your school for a character reference. This is now normal practice. It can be resisted and should be, but if he is wholly insistent then you will have to succumb. When the Department are happy they should issue you with your certificate within a few weeks. As for you FAC; At 15 you could have a rifle on your Certificate and use it unsupervised. As I have said in many other posts, the problem is getting them on to your FAC when 15 as you cannot buy guns or ammunition. Does your father or stepmother have an FAC? This would make it just about manageable with all the waiting and paperwork it entails. If not, then I would wait until you are 17 so that you can go and buy your guns and ammunition. Even if your father/stepmother has an FAC then they can only sell you the gun they have on their license currently, they cannot just go out and buy one for you and then sign it over. It needs to be THE gun they have. After they have given it to you, they will then need to apply for a one for one variation to replace the gun they have given you. I am not trying to wholly discourage you but you can see the amount of paperwork involved with an FAC below 17. Regards SS Quote Link to post

rizzini 1
You should be able to get a SGC with relative ease, if you meet all of the outstanding criteria that is. I'm not sure if you will get a FAC as soon as you turn 15 though. Do you know of anyone who already holdsa valid FAC? They could act as a mentor or something.Might make the application seem a bit more cognitive. I doubt you would get a 223 for just rabbits though, that is you are just shooting rabbits?. Maybe a 22LR after a year of holding a SGC might be OK......but I'm not sure you will get either with an attitude akin to your response of Ditch's post. Just my 2cent Quote Link to post
