Firearm sections?

Recommended Posts

There are many different Sections concerning Firearms and they each concern a different Section of the Firearms Act(s).

A S.1 Firearm is one with a rifled barrel and needs to be held on an FAC.

A S.2 Firearm is one with a Smoothbore and has a barrel not less than 24" and is held on an SGC as long as it has no capacity for more than 3 shots, any more and it needs to go on an FAC as S.1.

Those are the two main definitions you need to be concerned about. A S.3 is an Air Weapon which has a power of 12ft/lbs or less and is not a revolver.

A S.5 Firearm is one which is subject to general prohibition. Such as Pistols and Semi Automatic rifles other than those chambered for .22 R/F.
