Guest smashygadge
collie greys for me but ive got a whippet grey for next year so i will have chance to see 2 different crosses Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
i prefer a collie cross for an allrounder i like a dog that will use its brain and is only hard mouthed when it needs to be. i would always pick a good collie cross over a good bull x but i have seen good and shite in all breedings of lurchers and thats just my own opinion. i know that alot of lads have bull x just for the fox but collie crosses can do just the same its just that if you buy a bull x its got a better chance of taking to that type of quarry where as the collie crosses need to be brought on more carefully sometimes but not all the time (if you know what im saying), i think that the bull x has become a fasion to alot of younger lads now and the just use it to look hard walking a big bully looking dog on the end of the lead. W.h I wouldn't disagree with anything said here....my own preference is a 3/4grey 1/4 collie...works for me. Quote Link to post
doga 50
i like me collie cross and are good on the old charlie but them bull crosses when you got the write type are machines on fox and stuff.theres nothing wrong we adding either of the base bloods together we greyhound. Quote Link to post

Guest Zak
good thread this, some nice dogs aswell. best dog iv ever had, was a whippet x greyhound, took a lot on the lamp, very keen dog, go threw anything to get to his quarry, havent had another like him since. Irish pup, that seems a decent hound you have their, nice one. what county are you in? borderland, how do you find the greyhound as a worker? any problems with coming back to you ect? was it a x track dog? Cheers. Quote Link to post

Yes sounds spot on, ive had bullxs and colliexs, and both were good dogs. So a colliexgreyx bull grey could make a reall good lurcher , with a bit of luck BIRD Quote Link to post
chb lad 7
i think collie whippet greyhound one of the best mine has tackles all quarry put in front of it. shes first cross with collie coat so has a bit of protection for thing hard as nialls for a small dog Quote Link to post
Guest Zak
he seems to be doing the biz alright Ross, nice one. im from clare me self. just have the one lurcher, not bad on the lamp, could be better, but fills the pot. she is a whippet x greyhound with a touch of deerhound. Quote Link to post
