Timid Toad 18
went to worcester whippet racing clubs t and l show today and saw some discusting behaviour as one car full of people slagged off the judge and called abuse into the ring all because their dog wasnt picked . i wasnt showing just watching but makes you wonder why some people take things so bloody serious its only a bit of ribbon at the end of the day for god sake . makes you think if they know so much why dont they put their money where their mouth is and try judging

maty j 6
I've never shown mine only took her to one show to socialise her. When I go to the shows I go to enjoy it and have a look round. When you're shadowed all day by a panting dog it just slows you down and is a general PITA. IMO the shows are a dog thieves wet dream. You hear so much about people getting dog nicked or attempted nicked from vans even grown men threatening to nick dogs off usually women Abit off topic but I agree - shows to a lot of people mean a lot more than they let onto. Missie 1
Someone at the show I was at had a paddy because the greyhound class was on sooner than he anticipated and he was so rude to the steward I couldn't believe it. He is (according to my sister) a real trophy hunter though, he goes all over to show his dogs and don't get me wrong they look very good but isn't showing supposed to be for enjoyment..?! Tw*ts like that just annoy me!

The rosettes were a bonus and my daughter was made up with hers in the child handler but I just can't take showing seriously, especially on a hot day like this, my boy hates being manhandled into standing correctly etc.
Halfinch 51
Showing = showing off your dog/ferret/cat whatever, to other people. IE: a show off, now we all now how showoffs behave if they don't get the reaction they are looking for. They act like spoilt little brats, There are people that like to go to a show for a bit of fun, but the serious showoffs, tend to be a bunch of p***ks. IMO.

the_stig 6,614
i dont mind a bit of showing - win or lose take em for what they are - mardy dummy spitters are all part and parcel of the show scene .. as for judgeing you can only judge whats put in front of you handling 100 plus , terriers or lurchers aint as easy as some people think - at the end of the day the`ve paid a quid for your opinion if they dont like it thrs always next week .. Funfuret 1
Don't like shows. All the hanging about waiting for classes, results, etc.. what a waste of a day. I enter my ferrets in my club show to support the club but I don't give a monkey's whether or not they are beauty queens. They're great little characters, each and every one, and that means far more to me Edited July 28, 2008 by Funfuret
