thought i would tell you lot so you can laugh at my expense.seen ferret free to good home on adtrader website.rang up the guy says its well handled blah, blah.so set off up the valleys to tredegar .guy gets it out of hutch passes it to me.i hold it and it sniffs me then locks on.right down to the bone. guys pulling ferret which makes it worse.as it has bottom fang in flesh .by the time he frees me i have 3 puncture wounds and pissing out blood.he turns around and says do you still want it.you can guess my answer :realmad: .he then tries blaming the way i held it.that it could smell my ferrets.which i hadnt even handled today.the only thing i had handled was my new bullmastiffxbullterrier pup.so now i have swollen throbbing hand missus bleating about tetnus injections .so look on adtrader if you want a well handled male polecat with hutch.that doesnt bite. :haha:

Happend to me when i got my first ferret. I put him in his box, and on the way home in the car i couldnt subside temptations. So i open the box and go to pick him up, he was probably scared shitless. But he locked on to my index finger. Straight through the nail. b*****d didnt want to let go, and he was even pulling back on me. I left him go and shut the box so it was dark.

He let go after a while, so i sealed the box up and tried to stop the bleeding. Bled for a good 10 mins i wrapped it in a jumper. I handled the b*****d with a glove after that, and everytime he would struggle and try to latch onto the glove, as soon as i put my hand near him. So he got a mouthfull of sunlight soap to bite.

It doesnt seem to be a good introduction to ferrets does it.... But i thought it was, I have more respect for the animal now. I thought that he wasnt going to change and i was dreading my purchase. But i kept on and he soon got used to me as i did to him.

He is now my best worker, and one gentle ferret. Wont even bite me when he is on a bunny.

But crickey ferrets can bite,

Cheers :good:

The best hob I,ve had bit me the first time I held him,but after alot of taps/slaps on the nose he learnt the word no & now he's a real pleasure to handle & great worker. But at times I did think he might end up going to the hutch in the sky! Some ferrets ,not many are just not worth the hassle.
