Malt 379
Does anybody know of any thing that you can put on a pc to limit the amount of time a teenager spends on the internet? My sister is 15 and has learning difficulties. She's gone to spending most of her waking hours on the computer, and isn't even eating properly.

BlueCoyote 0
take the power supply cable off and hide it lol actually i am thinking there is some sort of switch you can plug it into. i'll have to ask my husband.. i dont know where he put it.. but its a timer you plug into a light socket. we use it on our lamps when we're out of town for a few days. gives the impression that someone is home because the lights will come on randomly..... no reason why you couldnt plug a computer into it. except maybe its bad for a PC to be suddenly shut down without going through the right process. and of course nothing is stopping a person from reaching back there and disconnecting the timer.... which is why i said take away the cables... Malt 379
not being funny but the off button is a good start Yeah, I've tried telling that to my mum, but as she's just left school, (she's 16 not 15! ) she keeps up with all her school friends that was in her class. My brothers and I have all told my mum to take the damn laptop off her, but she works funny hours and my sister is left by herself in the house, so it's all very well to say just turn it off, but it's not always practical. Thank you sue.

Some companys do a little internet reciver that you pay say 20 Quid a month for or you get a set amount of hrs to use, and it works out and somethiing like 1hr and half or 2hr. that could help. speedlamper 0
you need something like netlimiter, allows you to control a network of comps from one main comp, that way other people can still connect on comp A while comp B is disabled, you can also control what is viewed on comp B from comp A

You could always put a password on it that way she cant use it without any of you being there to log her in. Alternatively take the fuse out the plug without her knowing. Why not get an agreement between you all on how much time she is allowed on it then montitor it between you all.
