dafydd23 7
hi im new to this just looking into starting with hawks do people normaly change birds with seasons and if so do they get rid of the old bird or keep um? id like a harris hawk does it make any difference if its male or female and could i fly it till its too old or would i have to change it? thanks male harris are smaller and normally better on the wing for feather but still can catch rabbits ,females are larger and are still good on fur and feather u can keep your bird as long as you want and hunt them but most people get gossitis and want a goss after 2/3 seasons Quote Link to post
bullet 125
on the subject of male or female i think one key factor is the fitness of it,a fit female will pi** all over a unfit male Quote Link to post

bullet 125
a harris hawk mate is best for a beginner, what sex you get is up to you, i flew a male last season, this season i will be flying a female hoping to bag a few hares, depending on how well the season goes i might fly my new male around xmas to the end of the season, i wish i had the time to fly both at the same time Quote Link to post
