mattydski 560
Hi, you can always try to handle it after feeing it meat, ie rabbit, chicken wing, mince etc. Try not to pull away from the nip, but gently push in to the kit with your finger. I stress, gently. Some people tap the nose of the offender as well. It will ease with time, as the affection builds towards you. Best of luck Matt Quote Link to post
deanflute 550
mine is the same..8 weeks and always nippy..it doesn't hurt and i dont mind her doing it for now as its what kits do but i am slowly trying to stop her doin it, a few more weeks and im hoping she'll be fine..i dont believe in tapping or flicking them on their noses though but everyone will have their own methods Quote Link to post

Rhodey 96
My two where nipping at 8 weeks tried pushing my finger in and the one stopped the other just chews on my finger which hurts, so they get flicks on the nose and it's stopped them niping. Quote Link to post

Rhodey 96
Handle after feeding rather than before So thats why women always want to go for a meal first it calms them down. Quote Link to post
Flying Ferrets 0
I'm not much for nosetapping. I always say a strich AHAH or NO when bitten. If a ferret needs more than that you can hold it in the scruff of the neck when saying NO (support it with the other hand or hold it gently against the floor) I like this method because it is simular to the way ferrets work things out themselves and so far it has worked for me. If the ferrets are biting from fear then gentle handeling is the way, no punishment. Good luck Quote Link to post
droid 11
Never had to nose tap. Can't see the point of meeting violence with violence on an animal that won't make the connection. I just point a finger and say 'NO' in a firm voice. Squawking in an ear'ole (the ferrets') sometimes works too. Quote Link to post
