Recommended Posts

tell you what,as clearly youve not oiled the blade or looked after it in any way ille put it to the forummembers as to what i should do,personally ide say bugger off ,if you cant look after a grownups knife get a toy one! but lets see what the forum think.

Hi

know ill tell you I payed you god money for knife that I have had for three months and I think I knew alittle about metal with my job but this knife started to pit within a few weeks I sent you a pm but no reply then last week we had been out knife was not used at all was left in my hunting bag with my other knife when I took it out it was like the photo and as not oiling the blade my be it might not have been ever time but you dont except to pay £60 for a custom made knife with a blade I think made from a circular saw blade all I asked you was either a replacement you a refund if you had sent me a reply saying that you would replace the blade I would have been made up but you sent a reply that made my blood boil as I alway think that I treat people proper but you think that I am trying to recoup a mistake I have made anyway fishfish you ask who you want but it was me that bought the knife and by all means please send me you address and ill even send you it back at my cost and please ont try selling another like that to the likes of me who by your words would have been better with a toy knife .

IN MY OPIONION THIS KNIFE THAT YOU SOLD ME WAS SHIT.

PLEASE SEND OIL OUT IN FUTURE WITH YOUR KNIVES OR BETTER STILL STICK TO FISHING.

KIPO

To FishFish,

I sent you the picture of the knife you sold me I already see one dick head saying feck him off well fishfish you really have took the piss out of me and well done because good job your good at your job because I like to think I am

But you really did me over then trying to blame me for the shit you sold me yes you have I am sure made some excellent knives that I so before I bought from you but this is not one of them and trying to get backup from the hunting forum when the problem is yours not any one else as you had good money out of me no one else and I thing I had the right to complain .

anymore F**king wise cracks dont come my way as I am not one who goes backward .

I will if in the next week do not get a proper reply put the knife up to auction and what ever it makes will put in hunting sites kitty I will get some good pictures also of the sheath which did not need oil but you will see what I mean about poor craftsmanship if I am just going to get slated for the knife might as well see what he as to say about the sheath but I am sure that I will be to blame.

happy hunting I am without a quaility knife but the fishfish knife I would NOT NOW USE FOR THE INTENDED USE AS YOU WOULD POSSIBLY get poisioned if you use it so it will only be for playing splits '

This goe's out to the both of you...1) using this forum to resolve this issue is only going to cause bad blood and surley cant be good for buisness.

2) what happend to the customer always being right?

3) A happy customer is a good advert for future buisness and your reputation whilst an unhappy one doe's the opposite

4) As a goodwill gesture it may have been more prudent to sort this out privately after all the guy paid good money

5) Maybe leaving a knife in a damp bag isnt the best idea for proper care

6) Me personally I would gladly buy again and again from someone who assisted me positively with any issues I may

have.

So c'mon guys sort it out between you.... a one of goodwill gesture would be a good outcome good luck! :icon_eek:

I have never had to reply to anything I have bought over a personal foram before as I sent the seller a pm and should have been private but fishfish said see what the foram thinks all I can say is I am now not going to oppligise for complaning about a knife that I payed good money for that was shit the guy who put about the varnish being removed please get a life camera light .

who said the metal was cardon steel or stainless because I didnt .

Ps

I will not reply anymore as I get a lot of pleasure out of this site and I am big enough to sort my own problems out without shit from some of you know it alls .

the handle was treated with danish oil, left in it for 24 hours to soak in ,the blade was a stainles steel .now ive worked in the butchery business for years and i can tell all that stainless does rust unless its a marine grade steel, its a trade off realy stainless doesnt make for a good blade, difficult to sharpen properly ,carbon steel rusts so theres just enough carbon steel in the blade to make it a good blade.as ive allready said this knife wasnt looked after,it was a £60 custon knife and a bargain for that price. personally i dont care if i ever make a knife for sale again, that knife took 20 hours to make from start to finish thats less than £3.00 per hour.

to be honest this chap aint ever gonna get a replacement or a refund ,the materials and workmanship was in no way of sub-standard quality ,the only thing that was was the care given by the buyer.

As for the threats to do me over, well kipo knows my address ............

I said that I was not going to reply again as if you had just sent me a pm saying that it wa my fault that the knife had been left out to rust fair enough but it was only in the sheath and had never been left out side but that is not the reason I have replied as where on earth you get that I have said that I am going to do you over is totally not true and as regards your address I requested it to send the knife back but was never forthcoming only when you got payed and I misplaced your address .

I can honestly say I have always found fishfish very approachable, I have to agree that stainless does rust and if there is a percentage of carbon in the blade, you will not stop it from rusting, I have an Old Timer sheath knife and it has a brilliant blade on it, but you only have to look at it to rust, just the moist air will rust it.

Kipo, how does it sharpen and hold an edge, perhaps you just need to be extra vigilant with oiling, I use my Old Timer heaps and never had health issues.

I also have FDick boning knives that are high grade stainless that have been left in sheaths with blood on them and I cannot get the rust stains out.

60 pounds isn't very much for a custom knife.

Would it not be possible to refurb.renovate the knife for the fella. Maybe future knife sales should include an 'idiots guide' to general care.

Put it down to experience, and im sure you will feel the karma ;)

The best corrosion resistant steel is austenitic stainless steel, but any metal alloy with iron in it will rust eventually.

if that blade is stainless, it is very unusal in old saw blades, but if it was carbon ,the higher the carbon content the sooner the rust, the only way i can think that would have rusted that soon, if it was stainless of a high grade, would be contact with salt water.surface rust can be cleaned off, doesnt make it a bad knife,is it easy to sharpen will it take and hold a good edge thats more important than a bit of corrosion especially for the price. :victory: if he really just wants his money back id clean the knife up re sell it,take expenses and time out and give him the balance.put it down to experience.

thats what i would do.

the handle looks like it fell out of the boat into the salt water then left out in the sun to dry for a couple of days.

the blade .. well .. my husband has a hatchet that rusted inside its leather sheath.... in our air tight shed. and no it hadnt been oiled.

what did he do?

cleaned it up, oiled it. looks brand new. so does the handle.

doesnt matter what happened to it, but i would do the above advice.... refurbish it, send it back with a little guide on how to maintain your blade, handle and sheath. and have no hard feelings about it in the end.

Mackay ~ thats probably because those knives of yours have acquired their own 'patina' ;)

Mate you obviously dont know how to care for knives, If that was me you would definitely not be getting a refund

:wallbash:

Butch

but thats just it butch, did it come with instructions for aftercare, as stated earlier, my shop bought knife is still as shiney as the day I bought it, only ever run it under a tap to get the blood off, If this made to order knife needed special aftercare, any buisness out there would be expected to issue a leaflet describing this, rather than expecting a buyer to "know how to care for a knife" its common sense in buisness to cover your back on every angle.

if I sold a ferret to joe bloggs without a word of housing/feeding, and it died because he feed it rabbit mix rather than rabbit, who's fault would it be, mine for expecting joe to know how to care for a ferret, or joe's for not knowing.
