Went to the vets last night after my dog developed a limp on Monday. When he was about a year old he fell down the stairs and landed akwardly on the laminate flooring at the bottom, this resulted in x-rays (nothing visable) and anti inflammatory injections for a month, this along with one month in a crate ( all fine since).

This was almost a year ago and because of this the vets has pescribed Metacam and wants to x-ray again, don't think that they know but she has suggested possible damage to the knee and even possible arthritis due to the earlier damage, the dog is only 23 months  This comes on top of my seven year old damaging his cruciate ligament when he knocked it jumping  This was Feb 05 and the dog hasn't been the same since, runs ok most of the time but used to jump anything and nowdays he struggles jumping in the car  Both dogs are not lurchers but GSD's, the older dog has competed successfully in dog sports and I got the younger one , his son to compete with but his amazing hunting instincts changed my mind and he has come out regularly bushing with my Patterdale. I have never had a lurcher but used to lamp successfully with a collie and gave it a go this season, after the first session the dog didn't catch but I was pleased with his attempts, anyway after a few sessions my battery gave up the ghost and due to cash flow I've had to wait for a new pack to arrive, this came today and it's scary wondering if i'll be able to work him properly again. With three dogs, one child and another on the way I don't think another dog is a possibility.

All I can say is appreciate your dogs now, you never know whats around the corner :)

On a lighter note I was out last weekend ratting with the terriers and i'm off again tomorrow so i'll post the photos :good:
