max&paddy 0
Hi This is my first post on this forum, I joined as I've got two hobs that I want to take ferreting soon, and have read some good advice on here so far - thanks! The problem is, I have been looking at ferret finders and I was going to get the Deben Mk 3, but have heard a few bad things about it, accuracy, collars etc. I would really appreciate other peoples opinions on the best locators, as I obviously want to minimise any chance of losing my boys! Many thanks Quote Link to post

stubby 175
if you have never used a locator before, then go for a mk3, most people that own'ed a mk1 then tried going onto a mk3 hated it, because its a totally different way of using, the mk1 is a good locator, but times have moved on, if it was such a great locator, why have we got a mk3 you'll see lots of view points on the different locators, my advice would be deciede what one to go for, get it, then try it out, before rushing out to change things, lots of people dont like the nylon collars, but then again, alot do, including myself Quote Link to post
Corky(amateur) 0
definately agree with stubby. i recently bought a mark 1 15ft and to be honest i think its crap, especially when you see the technology of the mark 3. us new age need new technology.lol Quote Link to post

max&paddy 0
Thanks for all your replies they have been very useful. I think i'll go ahead and try the Mk3 if the actual 'finding' ability is ok, as I don't think it will have very heavy use. When you say it breaks, is it the collar? And in what way does it go? Would it be possible to change the nylon for leather myself do you think? Cheers Quote Link to post

Guest Magwitch
I must be a dinosaur because i love the MK1s, would not part with my tired old unit for love nor money easy to use and doesn't make that awful noise like Rolf Harris playing a stylophone while on acid. Quote Link to post
The one 8,513
Aye i like the old mark 1's and to be honest im scared of the cost to swap over im sitting pretty just now with 8 boxes and 14 collars but i know there not going to last for ever .And i heard a rumour last week deben's had stopped servicing the mk1's Quote Link to post
