ferreterni 29
does anyone else have trouble with their dogs fighting over the summer, My jrt has just got a pasting from the collie and has a wee flap of skin torn just on the eyelid, its not serious, this time. Was second time today they have had a go at it to. They jrt is in season, and the collie normally backs away smart, but the two of em kept hammeriung on, at my feet. They haven,t had as much excersise time at the moment cos fields all waiting to be cut, so I know its probably mainly from boredom, anyone else have similar troubles? Quote Link to post

ferreterni 29
mine only a ferreting bushing terrier, unless i fall in with fox men haha the terrier sleeps in kitchen and the collie, lurcher and terrier cross sleep in the porch, but from 8am to midnite they all out in the yard with dog boxes, not normally any trouble, maybe my own fault for throwing a ball and playing with em got em hepped up a bit. Can understand it, bouncing of the walls myself. Any trouble would normally be between the jrt and the terrier cross, but not this time. And the collie normally chicken. And the lurcher, she just laid down and watched it hahaha Quote Link to post

As pack leader you have to tell the dogs that the summer is yours and to stop fighting over it sounds like the dogs are bored and need stimulating throughout the day take em out bushing or something and should cut down on their excess energy Quote Link to post
ferreterni 29
Kno its mainly boredom, and being in season. Not as easy to get out at the min, cos all fields are in barley or grass. Am having a massive problem with ticks too, but have been put onto benzo? to try and sort that. And have a 9 month old nipper so been bit tied up. went out withg a ball to yard to play with em for a bit and that didnt help. Have to go on few long road walks I think, dont want to keep jrt in the house cos she gets uppity. She a wee shite for that , but she obedient in field and a great ferreting dog, but she gets pushy. And I definately dont let her away with things, am being more strict because of nipper. Have never had em fighting like this, normally just blows over, but they not for quitting haha Quote Link to post
