skycat 6,173
who needs a terrier A allgame, Ive got mates that will shoot a dog for going down a wombat hole like that. Stevemac WHY? Wouldn't it be better to train the dog not to go down holes? Quote Link to post
tod 3
nothing wrong there mate.good pictures and well done that dog Quote Link to post
skippy 0
as i said on the other post nice draw dog but got to agree with steve mac if you see the damage done by wombats and know the time wasted when dogs enter wombat holes when hunting other game you would understand wombats tend to let dogs come over the top of them then stand up flex their muscles and crush/soffocate the dog against the roof of the tunnel Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Thanks for the explanation: I do remember seeing that before: sorry, forgot! But that still doesn't explain why he shoots them for doing it........why not just train them not to go down holes? Not trying to be awkward or anything, just curious as to the reasoning behind it. allgame 0
thats a fox hole by the way i try not to hunt to close to wombats anymore Quote Link to post
GarryN 5
Hi Allgame, we in the England forget that their are other creatures to hunt and do not realise the damage they can do, the likes of a Wombat. I went to S.A. with my Lady and her Uncle said the Warthogs will kill and eat a dog if they get a chance, one thing going for the Warthog they may be ugly but they taste good on the BBQ, Good Hunting.G Quote Link to post
stevemac 442
yes mate I new it was a fox hole and a job well done by your dog. Skycat some justy wont learn and will hunt trash as long as they live thats when the blokes I know have given up and shot the dog. you can waste a hole hunting trip looking for a dog that wants to hunt wombats. wombats are a protected speces by the way. skycat 6,173
Skycat some justy wont learn and will hunt trash as long as they live thats when the blokes I know have given up and shot the dog.. Stevemac Cheers: I can go along with that. We don't have as much 'trash' here as you over in Oz and the States: just the night walking earth movers and larger herbivores LOL. I guess it must be a nightmare with so many species on the forbidden/dog killing list! Quote Link to post
swanseajack 227
reminds me of an old joke.. Guy goes into a pub with a wombat growing out of his head, the barman says 'ey up fella what happened there' the wombat replies 'it started as a pimple on my ass' sorry couldn't resist Quote Link to post
