Jadus 0
Have just brought a remmington lvsf 204 , im having a problem with the rifle, it seem to be on target on the first round at 100 yards and then deteriorates to about two inches from the bull second shot and then third shot four five inches away, is there a set time i need to leave the rifle to cool down in between shots or have i got another problem any help would be greatly appreciated. Rentomski 0
Sounds strange. How many groups have you shot? If the first shot goes where it should go; then the other two should be somewhere near the first one, provided your stance/technique is consistent. Are you scoping each shot? I can remember doing that years ago when I first started target pistol shooting: you just end up chasing your own errors all over the card. Shoot a group and don't scope the target in between shots: if you get the same result then other factors might be playing a part. Quote Link to post

mattydski 560
Also check all the bolts holding the metal work on the wood work are tight, i.e bedded. Is it a floating barrel, if so, check there is clearance.. between fore end and barrel. Matt Edited July 20, 2008 by mattydski Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
check all nuts, bolts etc on the rifle......sounds like loose mounts or bases...................if this is not the problem the i would suggedt a good clean of the barrel...........a very good clean................carbon and copper build up may be the problem........................ Jadus 0
The rifle is new has a swarovski 8x56 scope, t8 mod and has fired about sixty shots and has been cleaned with pro shot after every tine it has been used. Problem seems to be after first shot (when cold) hits spot on then shots after get further and further away from bull, if rifle is left for fifteen twenty minutes rifle does the same spot on first shot then goes to pot canot find anything loose any ideas ? SNAP SHOT 194
did you check to see if the mounts are tight, no rifle should have to be left fifteen minutes after each shot, so its not a barrel heating problem, but could still be copper build up, did you use a copper foam or solvent remover............was the barrel shot in........... rob reynolds uk 3
i have the same rifle as you ,iv had the same problem..becouse its such a fast round it needs cleaning really well after use, boreshine which i have is not really the best around ,find another ...give it a good soak .in your copper cleaner ..in fact clean it twice and then some.. i was useing remmington ammo and found it bang on ..32gn but now homeload ..check the crown on your barrel for any dents i had a really small one on mine and it made the bullets drift a bit ..i would get two on then one top left ...8x56 scope is really no good for you to try to shoot a 1" group at 100 yrds ..you need at least a 16x power or more to see the target proper so if you have one or can lend one stick it on and try angain ..get the trigger done it helps ..if still no good pm me and i will give you a number for a guy who will make it shoot a 4 shoot group inside a five pence piece at 100 yrds .. proper job 1
if all else fails ring Edgar Bros, I know they have had problems with these rifles and a lot of them have needed recrowning, they should do it free of charge. Quote Link to post
dickyboy 1
rob reynolds what scope is that?? Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
..becouse its such a fast round it needs cleaning really well after use. Out of curiosity, why doesn't the .17 Remington have the same problem? They are both perfectly capable of 4200 fps+. It seems as though this is more bad press for the .204 Regards SS Quote Link to post
CharlieT 32
It is not a caliber problem, my 204 shoots good groups all day long and I only clean it when the groups start to open. How does it shoot without the mod Quote Link to post
Guest Zak
from past experince (2 years) with this caliber, i found, changing to a .223, far better. Quote Link to post
