we should all keep each other right thats how it should be if i breed a litter its because i need a dog would rather know the rest of the pups were going to genuine decent folk for free than get 500 or any amount of money and not know were the pups are goin. once you see pound signs its time to quit you then in it for all the wrong reasons

the average price of a lurcher pup at todays prices is about £180 (you dont need to be a mathmatician to work it out)

 

i dont think that this out of the way, in comparison to the price of fishing tackle or guns etc, some pups are going to be expensive some are given away for free, just take your pick, and buy one for a price you are happy with.

I think £100 - £150 is a fair price to charge for a lurcher. Its enough to stop people buying on a whim but not too expensive for your average working man.

 

I keep whippets now and Paid £250 for one bitch and £450 for the new pup. If I was to breed a litter I would rather give the pups to a genuine working home where they would be looked after than sell them for crazy money. There are families out there who would love a pup and would give it a home for life plus work the dog. I would more than gladly deliver a pup for free to a home like that. £450 is alot of money and the only reason I paid it is my wife wanted a blue pup. I wanted a pup from cousing lines and this was the first one we could get. Waited months for a litter. I could have had a blue pup from show lines but I wanted coursing stock and paid through the nose for it. Will be intresting to see if she turns out any better than my £250 pup.

 

I remeber reading threads in the past on whippet sites where people are selling them at in excess of £400, having ten pups in a litter and claiming that they are not making a proffit!! There are more puppy pedlers in the whippet game than you would imagine but they seem to get no stick for it. Strange?

Hopefully I have a pup due in approx 3 days, I have spoken to the breeder and they want £200. Fair enough in my eyes, you can't get something for nothing and if you can't find the money to buy the pup what will you do when it needs to go to the vet?

if you dont like the price..... dont pay it.

 

Personally, i've never paid more than £100 for a pup. But i've never been offered a proven working strain.

 

On the other hand. I paid £250 for a proven, ready working, adult dog. And he made his money back in three "shift's"

whats up wi the price of lurcher an terrier pups ???? some of the prices you see are f$%*ing outta this world!!! my litter of 3/4 greyhound 1/4 bedlington pups were given away for free ...cos they were goin to good homes!! some people need to have a reality check an ask whether they are into dogs for the pleasure of it or are they in it for money??? at the moment am planning to get a jack russell in about 6 months but some of the terriermen (of the bullshitter variety) have been quoting f%&*ing mental prices for pups!! what is the world commin to??

 

 

Welcome to the real world mate. Its not just dogs is it.. Why should people give them away? 60 odd days looking after the bitch and 7 or 8 weeks the pups. Yeah they need to go to a decent home which is most important, but if you want something you have to pay for it..

we have a close nit of friends and we look after each other money never changes hands i wouldnt say dadu money as i spoke to my mate in london and blacks going for around 3-400 and borders around 800 well you cant justify that my mate is the ex terrier man for our local hunt and has bred the same line of russels for 40 yrs and he sells for only 40-60 quid prices now are crazy

i was given a lakeland pup of a freind she was offered good money for it its a beauty pup bred out fiona mcfersons amd garry middleton stuff iv been doing real well with her at shows

only 5/half months old . iv been offered money 4 it but wud never sell her she gonna be a gud dog when shes an adult . so just letting every 1 know all people arnt into terriers 4 money
