when horses get a build up of lactic acid during exercise and tie up they piss orange, we blood test for high emzyne levels to confirm this and if it's the case give them a selenium based addative.triparte paste is a product sold for dogs with similar condition (look on google)

The fields are getting cut shortly up my way so iv'e increased the lurchers exercise to get a bit of weight of them and get them ready.Daily theyr'e getting a mile road walk followed by a hour in the fields corn hopping(jumping through corn/rape seed etc) then a 4 mile road walk back to the house.I,ve noticed in the last mile before home the dogs (two bitches actually) urines darker in colour something like tea with no milk. Does anyone know why this happens??(i know its not just my dogs i've seen this with),a few hours later and everything is back to normal again.Exercise is done dawn/dusk to avoid over heating etc. This might get moved to the health/training section (wasn,t sure where to put it) Thanks longslip
You can give Nutradex by Vetsearch from greyhound megastore that will make them pee the acid out built up by exercise also electrolytes should be given to replace losses.

a young male dog of mine had this after one outing.he'd run hard and also tackled something that kicked back.... :whistling: after i noticed his pee was darker and thought it was blood but it cleared quickly and was fine after so maybe it was what has been said...

dehydrated for sure mate, you may want to be a bit careful with that when the dogs are out for a long time with no water as the weather is shite but still warm and it doesn't take dogs too much to overheat mate.

could allso be to much protein or strained kidneys.get plenty of electrolytes into them and make sure their diet is right.you said your putting the weight back on them ready for the season,so could be the food,i personally do it th other way around, keep the fat during the summer, then strip the weight of them when im putting plenty of work into them
