Irish Lurcher 1,013 Posted July 18, 2008 Report Share Posted July 18, 2008 Was out Pike angling with a lad off this site over last weekend, fished the R.Suck, nothing special to write home about, but…………. We got talking about hard fished waters and how best to tackle them, we then decided that due to the live bait ban in Ireland, the next best thing was a colored dead bait, reason we came to this conclusion as follows. Pike do become weary of certain baits that they associate with danger, maybe the angler has bombarded the pike with mackerel or herring in reason sessions, and they Pike will give these baits a wide berth, so……….. By adding a food coloring to the same bait that they refused the previous session will often induce a take, wonder what your thoughts are on this subject, how would you tackle a hard fished water without the use of live baits.
