Not for me mate. The Wife's 'fe' Aberdeen, and my best mate & his Mrs come from Glasgow. I got the Wife's accent pretty quick, but it took me a few years to get the Glaswegian accent with any confidence, especially after a few :drink::laugh:

'See you, ya baw bag!' and all that, & it took me ages to work out what 'messages' they were always going to the shop to get. They just seemed to come back with bags of shopping, and no messages from anybody!

:clapper: My ex is Glaswegian ... the first time I met his whole family I had to get drunk to understand them  Picked it all up pretty quick tho. Gonnae nae do tha' ... I'm goinootthenoo... bam pot ...aye am are ... etc etc. The messages did have me stumped for a while tho. And for a very long time I pretended to know what a kirby grip was

A Canadian I know was dating a lass from Glesga, and on his first trip over there some bloke walked up to her on the street and said something like "oi Mary! Ya c*nt!" The "c" word is a very very bad word in Canada, so this guy knocked the other out for calling his woman a c*nt  He spent three days hiding out at someone's house until it could all be ironed out. I'm pretty sure he'd have been done in with a rusty machete or some equally sophisticated Glaswegian weapon :icon_eek:

I LOVE Glasgow!
