There was a sort of central pointer to allow the leash to travel and apparently it caused less tangling. The ones previous to those were more like a ring perch with a twine spoked effect inner and all were meant to prevent the bird from getting through the middle.. Quote Link to post

I have seen one as well... the pendulum carries the ring & hinges from the middle crossbar of the bow as Kat says. It is to stop the bird from passing through the bow & reduces tangles! They also ues them on the German Systems to stop the bird from getting knotted round the bowperch.... Quote Link to post
