smudgersmith 2
Started back training last night at the club after a 5 year absense, it is all I can do to use a digit to type this. To any props out there, whats the best method ( other than more ale) to help with a fecking bad chest strain, cannot lift up my arms, so I'm fecking snookered.

Malt 379
You'll get used to it again! I'd love to get back into playing rugby, but my knees are knackered, good luck with it.
smudgersmith 2
Tomo, Depends who don't turn up, loose, tight and hooker. Prefered loose. Coach had us line-out training for 45 mins, spent 40 min lifting up a 6ft 18 stone lard arse. First training session, 3 hours. Never seen so many blokes throwing-up, b*****d coach is a hard nut Kiwi. Aled 539
I hung up my gumshield last April at the age o 37, not bad me thinks. Now in my opinion the best thing to get that stiffness out is either a gentle swim or a visit to a jacuzzi. I certainly felt better afterwards! I played hooker so i reckon i got a bit of front row experience crouch, touch pause engage...... Good luck with the training, i had two gaps of 2 years during my career, (dislocated shoulder which needed an operation and a snapped achilles tendon which needed an operation). Plan to stay involved with the game, i'm on the club committee, a qualifed ref, first aider, and plan to help coach/manage the youth team in a year or two. Cheers Aled

Cheers Aled Hi Aled, Cheers mate, don't think the gov'ner in doors will let me go to a Jacuzzi, the last time I went to something simlar cost me £200 and very nearly me knackers when the wife found out. I think it's wishful thinking on my part, I'm 44 and the only work-out I have had over the past five years is when I'm bouncing on her in doors, and that only lasts 2 minutes if really lucky. I will try the swim tonight, thanks again. Smudger

welshphil 195
I agree with the swimming and just generally try to keep moving if you can, worst thing you can do is nothing 'cos you'll be stiff for weeks otherwise......still I suppose that'll keep yer missus smiling I coach my sons under 13's team and we start pre-season tomorrow, they're a right cheeky bunch of barstewards so its payback time I'm going to make 'em suffer!!! Stabs 3
My old PTI liked to see you throw up before breakfast too....he was a hard b*****d. When I first started playing union for my school the only training we did was watching videos of internationals in the sports hall and then playing a game - A team vs B team. It was great when the manager cracked open the cans of Flowers Bitter after I quit the school team and went to play for the town team who had a proper coach...my god...what a difference
