woodchip 2
I got home from work and got a call from the farmer about some magpies that have giving his polts grief ,so i popped over to see what the situation was as i know the farmers sons ushally shoot them with there shotguns . i turns out that there where a group of 3 magpies hanging around by 1 of the pheasant pens and they where stressing out the poults but the boys couldnt shoot them as the shot guns where too loud and would frighten the pheasants so iwas asked to shoot them . so i found a nice spot just outside the pheasant pen and waited after about 20 mins i heard the cackle of the magpie i couldnt see them so i tried to squeek them they would fall for it and within seconds 1 flew in 25 yrs on to a branch in clear view so i popped him off i waited a minute or so and tried again and sure enough another flew in so he got it as well but he landed flapping and squarking so i popped him again to make sure . i left it again a couple of minutes and squeeked again but nothing so i waited and tried again still nothing so i waited about half an hour listening for any cackles but i didnt hear a thing so i packed up and took a wonder around and popped off a couple of bunnies made my way back to the pen i split one of the rabbits open and waited giving out a couple of squeeks and sure enought after a while a magpie came in for a free meal and he got it as well with a bit more lead in his food and his head .so i packed up and made my way back to the farm house i put my kills in the van and i heard a woodie on the roof of the barn so he got popped off as well ,i picked him up and packed up and left . got home got my kit out of the van and realise i left 2 of the magpies on the floor but here are the pictures of what i didnt forget to bring home . Malt 379
Always nice to see a black & white nest robber get it's comeuppance, although you've got to admire them for their intelligence. (that's not to say I like the b*****ds though! ) Quote Link to post
