PhilS 0
I am based in Surrey. Have been searching for vermin permissions for quite some time now. So far I've.... 1) Wrote letters to several local farmers (no replies) 2) Approached farmers in person (the refusal here is mostly that they enjoy the pest control / taken care of) 3) Left a message in a shop window. (no replies) 4) Posted ads where possible online (no replies) I have also approached a few syndicates who mostly seem to be interested in the shotgun / organised shoot side of things... am I missing some? Any ideas? Is it honestly this hard starting out for everyone? Its feeling a bit like I have web site design / development / pc fixing skills to offer as a sweetner but I'm not sure how much success I could have offering these. Thanks, Phil. Most of my permission has come this way,if you just keep to rabbits and pigeon shooting you will be safest when you ask i think, also a lot of farmers have no ideal at all about how effective air rifles for pest control can be. GOOD LUCK AL Quote Link to post

I've always found asking for ferreting permission to start with is a good way in...after a few weeks or months as you get to know your host you can enquire about things like shooting etc....like the guys said dont give up all you need is one yes...good luck! Thanks, Phil. hi there next time your sitting in the house doing nothing try getting out the yellow pages farmers section(obviously)and mark all the farms that you would be willing to travel to then go back to the first one and ring it up and go through them all i guarentee you will get at least one that says yes thats how i got one of my permissions and now i do his neighbours as well.usualy they like to put a face to the voice but you will get one that asks you to come along and have a look just be polite on the phone tell him what you want to shoot(rabbits, wood pigeon)and tell him what your going to use to do it.good luck let me know how you get on Quote Link to post
richie 1
i agree with undisputed its much easier to get permission by offering your services by ferreting first, then when their comfortable with you, & can see you can be trusted & reliable you can ask if you could use an air rifle on certain areas where it wouldnt be suitable to ferret. just keep trying, but dont expect permission to be given from a hunting site.. look on www.yell.com & look up all the farmers in your area & contact them in person "face to face". good luck in your search. rich Quote Link to post

Guest bigredbusa
get out there and do face to face , letters are just a waste of time and can make you look like a moron who thinks the farmer too is a moron ie the geeky letter above , no offence but it's the sort of thing a 14 year old would use . try for crappy bits of land aswell as even the smallest amount of land then lands you with a name to use ie: i do a bit for mr smith next door and noticed coney going into your land etc ...
