im wanting to get in to falconary and i would like to know what bird would be good for me im wanting it for rabbits if some one could pm me for a talk it would be great and wanting to know what kind of price am i looking at

asuming you'll have some one to show you the ropes, first bird to hop for is a harris hawk,most people will tell you this, there are others that will do the job like the gos or redtail but i wouldnt reckonmend these for a beginner

If your thinking about buying a bird for hunting rabbits then a Harris hawk would be a good bird.But what you need is a good knowledge of where to house them,what to feed them,how to train them,first aid and common ailments the list is endless.

You won't get all this out of books but it will help.What you could do is join a club if one near you or find a mentor who will show you the ropes with some good advice.

It isn't a cheap sport to get into and it isn't just the cost of the bird to take into consideration.There is the aviary,glove,bowperch,bath,swivels,leashes,jesses,bags or vest,tellemetry,e.tc.

thanks for that lads yeah it really helps im gonna phone my local bird of prey centre and see if i can go on the weekends till i get to know the ropes
