Aye your prob right there mate I was reading an old Lucas book on working terriers and there is some good chapters on the westy and cairn terriers being worked in the Highlands to fox and other quarry...back in the day when nearly all terriers were workers...some good stuff on bedies and dandy dinmonts as well Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
alex who lives near me has a mongrol cain looking terrier which is good on rats but its never been entered on foxs its very game and has a go at big dogs round near the pub garden where we live I don't know that I'd class a ratter that "has a go at dogs" game......gassy perhaps Quote Link to post
Guest WILF
I have never used Westie blood in my Yorkies..........I only did the outcross with the mastiff/ridge back to improve the heads and make it sound good in the adverts in the Countrymans!! :realmad: We are at this time trying to bring all the Wilfyorky clubs together, only in this way will we gain the KC recognition that we crave and deserve!! Stabs 3
Aye, you're not wrong there Simon. Here's Rambo going to ground on those mice If I remember correctly Rambo had three sessions to ground that day? He mixed it with the first two mice but by the third, he'd learned a bit of discretion. We lifted the hatch to him and he was sat off a bit, baying away like a good un' By his death at the ripe old age of 25 he had accounted for 35 mice, 3 rats and a disabled squirrel. All single handed apart from the rats, the squirrel and 34 of the mice.......... He sadly passed after going to ground after a hormone laden shrew during the breeding season, I couldn't dig him out before the shrew could inflict a terrible mauling........The only consolation is he sired 89 litters and made me some serious coin... RIP Rambo.... But you know the blood is safe at least Simon. That's the good thing about having good friends around you to carry on the bloodline and test hard. If ever you want to get that blood back, all it takes is a trip down the bingo to see Ada, Hilda and Joan Quote Link to post
