jonnyboi 0
i have a 2 year old black lab, from a working bloodline.. the problem is he's over eager, and get super excited everytime he hears gunshot, he'll retrieve anything dead or alive, on land or water... what training tip can you guys give me to make him steady, without putting a dampener on his enthusiasm? Cheers chaps Quote Link to post
Guest davieboy
work with a mate, have your dog on the lead get your pal to fire about 100m away, if the dog movers, check him with the lead then progress to lead off and bring the shot closer each day until right on top of him, dont over do it either, one good reaction from the dog each time a quit for the day Quote Link to post
rob reynolds uk 3
go to a clay shoot and just stand about till he shows signs of not pulling no more .or just park your motor close by to the noise of the guns .. Quote Link to post
v-max 2
Go right back to basic's but sit him for longer periods than you would with a pup do the dummy thing but only give him 1 in 10. this should have been done at a 1 year or so as part of his trainning & is the reason you go over it for 6-8 months or so to steady any dog right up & only on your command then you enter them gently into the real thing on a wee walk with a friend & see how it goes. As you will get teething probs. Quote Link to post
