Don't want to get involved in politics but with all these stabbings going on i'ts not going to be long before

the Government intervenes with legislation against carrying knives. Are you worried about any possible effect it may have on

us Country folk? I am.

For instance we drive a horse & carry a knife in case of an accident & we need to get the harness off.

As an example of the current situation I was pulled over one night when coursing & had to explain my knife but I got away

with it because I had a reasonable explanation. If in furture I can't carry a knife full stop and I got pulled over, then I could have a big problem.

It's a worrying thought.

Anyone got any opinion or views on this? NS

The laws a bit different up here but I think as long as you have a reasonable excuse you should be ok...think theres something about the size of the knife as well. So as long as you dont have one of those Rambo fuckers strapped to your leg you should be ok...best to err on the side of caution though. :victory:

Common sense would say that if you need a knife, you can carry one. You need one in the field. Fine, reasonable excuse. You need one for work. Fine, reasonable excuse. You're wearing a Burberry baseball cap and carrying a 12" kitchen knife, in an urban area? You should be punished. Especially for wearing the cap.

I can see a society that will criminalise the carrying of knives and also a society where only criminals will carry them. Bit like banning handguns, to stop gun crime, straight after the Soviet Union collapsed, because we all know that there is no gun crime in the UK, any more.

I've carried a pocket knife since I was in the cubs. I've never ever, felt the desire to stab anyone with it. It's a tool to do a job. If it's against the law to carry one, I'll have to stop carrying one because I'm a law abiding citizen. The British government has shown decades of the inability to use common sense. Expect changes in the law that will impede your lawful activity and do absolutely nothing to stop knife crime. All too familiar from Labour and their apologists.

To paraphrase several ©Rappers: Knives don't kill people, people do!

When I've been out hunting/shooting/fishing I've gone into shops and pubs carrying "a blade", never thought about stabbing anyone,

makes you wonder where it will ll end. Knife licences? Jeez.

I think it will be worse for us younger ones been a teenager myself. if pc plod decides to stop and search me when im off out ferreting or whatever, finds my knife whats he gonna do... listen to my reason for carrying it Or arrest me and get lots of credit for taking a 'knife weilding drug dealing gang-member teenager' off the street.

I know what hes gonna do.

to be honest i only carry a knife now if im going stalking so i dont think i would have a problem, but i think the laws will tighten, but they cant tighten much more really because if your out for rabbits and you gut them in the field then thats a reasonable explanation or whatever quarry is done in the field then you need a knife full stop, the only animal i do in the field is a deer so i only take a knife then but i dont think much will be said if you have a reasonable excuse. When i was working as a gamekeeper though i carried 1 with me at all times because you dont really know how much you need a knife doing things until you dont carry 1 so i think it will be people in this job that will effect most as most gamekeepers i know and have worked with carry a knife at all times.
