g ,

OPINIONS ARE LIKE ASSHOLES...EVERYONE GOT ONE,AND THEY ALL STINK!!!!!! You lot are welcome to yours.

Heres mine ; Breed whatever suits you, but be honest about the dogs short comeings and downfalls in its work.If ya go on to breed it,find a dog to correct those faults...repeat at every mateing...stick to that honesty, dont be swayed by others,or money or rosettes....you"ll end up with decent terriers...work,work,and more work will show those faults, not a few weekends a season in the same few earths.

don't want to get into anyones argument, but.............

as iv'e said before and as someone has mentioned on here, why are dogs of 25 years ago still held in such high regard?

''the emperors new clothes'' springs to mind.

i'm not saying that they were not good dogs, but how many hundreds, if not thousands of dogs CLAIM to be Sparticus or Smithy bred??

i think it is good to know how your dogs are bred, and the fact that the name SMITH keeps coming up is because there is fellas out ther wanting to know about the history of their dogs, they are called working terrier enthusiasts. I bet you know the history of your chosen breed Lakeman.

well said barolo , if no one kept records there would be no history , its not about showing or looks its about keeping working lines , if lakeman thinks differnt why call himself after a breed or type , if it wasnt relevant we all would keep mongrels, the line names are only a gide to who bred the terrier , its seems to wind certain people its simple smiffy name keeps coming up because its a bit of history, yes there has been better terriers but have there names been brought up 20 years after there dimise, there have been better greyhounds than master mc Grath but he is still remebered , blue collar the famous hound, is another one its history word of mouth folk law call it what you will , no one ever said he was the best digging dog ever or the best looker far from it , but why does every one lay claim to knowing how he was bred , and the row still goes on , now if some one had wrote it down

What winds people up is that the truth wasn t told about the dog Smithy, off unknown breeding :hmm: .Why would any one working terrier enthusiast withhold info from another?

I would do my best to find out and help others with breeding ,for their own interest, can t understand why others don t .

totaly agree pip well said ,whats the point of not sharing knowledge with others,a thought that was why people come on these sites after all,a can understand that the pound note brigade could use certain knowledge in the wrong way but why must every one suffer,a know how my gould pups bred and am sketchy on our nuttall gould dogs bred but providing some one ask properly a dont mind talking about my dogs and what way they are bred, cheers tigerdog !!

i personally think people hold on to ped info to stop the bullshitters faking peds etc,,,history is awesome but peds should be written in performance and not ink,,,anything further back than 3 gens isn't that important in my eyes...
