hue jeers 6
Couple of older mates of mine once witnessed Wally Wild find a terrier using divining rods. Takes some believing but i don't doubt them. Quote Link to post
waz77 15
I was told about it from a reliable sort, infact he'd be a mate of Wally's.Apparently you can even tell the depth of the tube by the distance that you start getting a reading to where the signal is strongest....that distance would be the same as the depth.Could be very handy if the dog got into a drain or suchlike without a collar and you did'nt know which way it went...or to map out the area an earth covered if you could'nt get a mark. Anyone else have any experience of it?? Quote Link to post
cumbye 36
Any one ever used them? Maybe the older end that would have seen them used. The other thread about T Bars got me thinking about this I used to dig out with ray cutler(rip)he was area rep for fmwtc south west at the time.I remembering him telling me the morning after a rescue for some lads in tiverton foxhound country who had had a dog stuck to ground for three days in an old disused badger cette. a jcb was ordered and the driver "phil odges" pulled out rods gave the depth and location, and proceeded to dig down as far as his reach would allow and the lads finished of with shovels to the exact spot where they found a dead fox and a terrier behind. This is roughly right from memory(several beers since then lol)but it was about12/15 yrs ago,the exact strory and pics are in one of the terrier year books!!! someone will have one knocking about Quote Link to post

Guest pip
Any one know about how it works how to use them and what to use? Quote Link to post
waz77 15
The fella who told me uses 2 welding rods with the ends bent about 30',rest the bent end under the web of your thumb and rest the straight length on your index finger holding the tips of the rods a few inches apart, when you pass over the tube or water or whatever your looking for the ends of the rods will pull together slightly,i guess its something to do with magnetic force altering or something??? Guest pip
Im wondering waz how they contact the dog in a maze of tubes? Quote Link to post
waz77 15
I dont know pip,to be honest i dont think you could actually pinpoint the dog but if you can find the tubes your off to a good start Quote Link to post
Guest pip
Aye your right,i mind a mate talking about his friend who used them for finding wells and streams and he reckoned some people where better conductersthan others. He said some picked them up no bother and others just didn t or couldn t ?I think they where using wood of some sort. Quote Link to post
Guest ripstop
Are they not used on leigh/lay - (not sure on the spelling) lines something like magnetic forces, Have seen them used a good few years ago to find old drains, even seen old metal coathangers used. Try a search Pip(internet) Quote Link to post
