Terrier man 38
Rubbish socks, Can you explain to the board then what the point of breeding lurchers is? Greyhounds fail where lurchers succeed. You obviously have not had much to do with lurchers. Dead right damashman ............ Look at it this way a greyhound is like an F1 car fine tuned and runs and smoth surface better then rough and needs a stop now and again .......... where a WRC (world rally car) can go on rough ground and has the tuning but not as fine and can last longer and is more reliable...If ye get me ??? Lurchers where created to cover the faults in the feild where the no greyhound could .... where other dogs where bred into the greyhound to cover brains that greyhounds dont have and stamina that greyhounds dont have,,,, also power , gameness , less brains in some cases, better feet etc etc if you can come uo with more problems with greyhounds that havent bein covered then get a bred that will and cover your greyhound with it .....And thats where lurchers come from.... damashaman 1
Thanks Terrier man, somebody with a brain!!! greyhounds skin is like a johnny, they have possibly the worst feet in the world, short wind, and because they explode are prone to ligature tears, broken lungs, kidney damage (long course) pastern damage. etc etc etc And they can have very skittish tempraments. I said Dave Sleight because he knows lurchers and he knows greyhounds and has had some of the best of both. Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
Rubbish socks, Can you explain to the board then what the point of breeding lurchers is? Greyhounds fail where lurchers succeed. You obviously have not had much to do with lurchers. right feckwit let me explain it to you in simple terms ... what i said was that there are plenty of greyhounds out there working which is fact ... i told you that to make a point that they are not going to fall apart or need mollycoddling after only one run of however long ...you then said this ..... they have pss poor feet, damage their lungs easy, can damage their bones/joints even kidneys and heart and lungs, fine tuned animals evolved to do one thing very very well, sprint on sand .... what a load of bullshit ... when have you seen a greyhound damaging its lungs or kidneys or heart ... how the hell would a greyhound do any of these things when it has been bred to run for thousands of years and needs most of these vital organs to do the job ..... the point of breeding lurchers is to put into the dog the speed from the greyhound and whatever other attribute you want from the other dog ... IE brains = collie ... stamina = saluki ... ETC ETC ETC ..... the thread isnt about can a greyhound do a lurchers job ... and i never said it could so dont try and twist what i was explaining ....... as for not having much to do with lurchers ............. Clap clap fella im certainly not your mucka ya fool talk properly will ya............ i didnt say that but yet i suppose you have had more greyhounds then me and my family doubt it very very much yes they have no brians in the feild and on the track there a one minded dog they dont see things other dogs ie fences and railings.. see there gameness but more gamness ... would you wreckon a bull hound is less game then a greyhound then? iv seen a fair few stand and watch a hare run from them and not budge greyhounds that is..... i didnt say they had bad skin .... and there feet ar not the best if i breed a lurcher i dont breed for new feet i breed for improvment......... Edited to say i hope to god your not on about greyhounds you rear as a dog and not a racer as all mine have bein reared as racing dogs ...... Edited July 13, 2008 by Terrier man Quote Link to post

damashaman 1
bell ends ananymous is it. idiots!! Greyhounds have evolved into modern SPRINTERS ONLY! They do not have any real staminer, they are not tough, they are not hardy. Lurcher men require much more than any greyhound could give. The same old argument on and on and on. WHY THE F DO LURCHERS EXIST THEN? We should all go and get a pure greyhound. Quote Link to post
