timjim 43
well id like to add the bull is purposly bred for its lock jaw and you recon that you used to breed bulls ?, you must have been there for the money mate, i would expect that sort of statement on a police report or from a dda supporter as for the subject of which dog is best allrounder, i aint touching that with a 40 foot barge pole! lol Quote Link to post
Guest ooty
nither of them are an alrounder,!!! Dont agree there mate. Whats your reason for saying it? Have you owned both? Suppose you think a collie grey types an all rounder. yes yes ans yes!! never had anything other than collie steady enough to work long nets, not putting either down, have a very good bull greyhound and owned a beautifull saluki that made little effort takeing hare here in norfolk, dont think its posable or fair to conpaire such differnt dogs Edited July 17, 2008 by ooty Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
cant compare the 2 ive seen and had collie crosses and they can have very hard mouths but them any lurcher can and theres nothing you can do about that im not a bull cross person but what i have seen of them i rate them highly there work rate is amazing and efficient and the ones my mates have will do the jobs most lurchers can do Quote Link to post
gavmac 0
For a dog to be an allrounder it must consistantly catch all quarry day and night on all types of ground and 90% of 1\2 bull crosses would be too slow for hares and roe . Quote Link to post
stormrider8 59
For a dog to be an allrounder it must consistantly catch all quarry day and night on all types of ground and 90% of 1\2 bull crosses would be too slow for hares and roe . Different types of ground certaintly pay a big part in it, they must do. Loads of times i have heard people on this site refer to roe as being fast. But all i can put it down to is area in which they live. Live down south and i can honestly say that i have seen so many different dogs catch them, including a collie a deerhound greyhound type with only 3 legs. Seen them hit hedges, fences ditches etc. No comparison to a hare.. all pre ban of course Quote Link to post

Guest ooty
nither of them are an alrounder,!!! got to agree how many bull x men and saluki men use them for going out ferreting or the smaller game with success and how many bull x bring their game back to hand without it being crunched ie a rabbit Mine does and works ferrets and cover and retrieves wild foul and catches rats and mice and bites on command and she is very friendly and walks to heal when out in the feild and lets my six year old take it's bone and says sausages so there. edited to say and she is only nine months old. there cant be an arguement.lots depends on what percentage of which blood.whos training it etc.iv trained a good few different dogs to a fair standard and ownd both,my 3 8th 5 8th bull x cross is eager to please but still leaving rabbits crunched in the hedge,he is definatly in his own when it comes to larger game, most dogs that are bred for allrounders are always better at some jobs than others i find Quote Link to post
