My lurcher eats apples is that unusual .I dont think fruit will do her any harm ??

Most of my dogs past and presant eat and ate fruit, apples, bananas, kiwi's, pears, oranges etc, etc. When I am collecting blackberrys they stand there picking their own, never had a problem with them. At the moment the foxes are filling up with cherrys their poop is filled with cherry stones and my neighbour has shot them out of his trees :icon_eek: .

Nah, My dogs like fruit and Veg. Too much acidic fruit can upset their stomachs, and guess its quite sugary.

Avoid grapes and raisins... they can lead to renal failure. Onions not good either, can get anaemic. Garlic is from onion family, so need to be careful with that too, I personally wouldnt feed it raw, but see what others have to say, I am no garlic expert.

I usually cook a little bit now and again and put it with their food, cos they like the taste.

The bitch above has had garlic in her food almost everyday of her life, she`s now near on 7 years old cant see that it`s done her any harm,

Yis Mars.

Mike, if I remember correctly, apple pips contain measurable ammounts of Arsenic.

Brilliant things aren't they, Dogs? I used to like feeding my old Bull 'n Terrier slices of banana. Just to see the obvious enjoyment he got from it.

just avoid feeding to many pips.

Why?

The pips contain a small amount of cyanide. No harm in small quantities but if could be harmfull if the dog is fed a lot of apples............

My oldest lurcher bitch eats blackberrys (when they're ripe) from the bushes and all my dogs get a garlic capsule regularly as well as loads of other stuff, brewers yeast, cod liver oil, cabbage, carrots, brown bread, goats milk, omega 3, white meat or lambs breast plus some dry or biscuits. Enough exercise or work daily and they rarely go to the vets other than for jabs or injuries.

My two oldest are 9 and 8 and are bouncing! Cheers, D.

Interesting bit of info' Ditch, thanks. Pigs are known to graze in orchards and only get pissed..lol So how come the pips don't cause them any trouble?
