I dont really no anyone else who could act as my ref. I have one who is my tutor, but I just need one more. Why do you need two anyway? Quote Link to post

rabbitshooter 0
I got the manger of the local coop to be one of mine and a mate who is a builder Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Mine were a friend who is a teacher and my Head Keeper. You should be able to use anyone who is of reputable standing as a referee. Does this man hold an SGC? As long as you know him well and vice versa you should be fine, unlike an SGC, there is no reference on the application as to who can be a referee. On an SGC form it asks for a Civil Servant, MP, Teacher etc, not so on an FAC form. I think he should be fine, does he own a business? Regards SS Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
Can i ask who said the land owner cannot do it ! If this man is a farmer then i think he,ll be ok i told him it. i said im sure he can use him but i would get someone else to do it instead of the guy who's farm your are going to be shooting over. not that it would matter if he is of good standing i was going to do it with mine but i never as i didnt want it to look like he mite be doing it just so i can shoot there. if he was a game keeper himself then i would of as in my eyes it would look a good reason then Quote Link to post
rizzini 1
He is not a Farmer, he just owns the land and it is like a small buisnes as he lets people keep horses there for a monthly fee. Quote Link to post
dsr686 0
If you are really stuck you could ask your doctor (but he will probably charge you) But really any company director/owner or as said by SS a think the wording is "anyone of reputable standing" can be a referee Edited July 11, 2008 by dsr686 Quote Link to post
rizzini 1
I would say a land ownder is of reputable standing.Well I hope so. Quote Link to post
dsr686 0
Was it your Local police authority that said this guy was no good as a referee Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
Landowner will be fine, they simply have to be of good character and to have known you personally for 2+ years. Regarding doctors, they AREN'T fine unless they know you anyway, because they don't know you personally AND many charge. The form specifically states the reference must not be paid-for. Only speaking from expierence my doctor did mine !!! I think its back to the same old problem diffrent Police Authoritys (wrongly) interpret the F.A.C rules diffrently and end up making the own rules. Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
The main issue is charging for it. If you know your doctor reasonably well (or even vaguely!) then I guess it's OK. I don't even know my doctor's name, so for me to ask them would be a bit daft Quote Link to post
