Working Whippets

Recommended Posts

I was having a conversation with someone last night, saying I would quite like to have a whippet. The fields around me are small and I think a whippet would suit me and fit in well with the other two. He says they get injured easily, knocked up and skin tears etc., have no stamina and are "shivery little things"

So I'd just like to hear from those of you who have/have had working whippets, and what the pros and cons are in your opinion

my brother has one 9months old recently while playing with his lurcher in back he ripped his skin on a loose bolt on kids trampaline he litterly skined himself. rushed to vet big hole in his side and stapled him up from shoulder to tail they stapled him the skin has rebonded now. you should see the vet bill. should be fit in a another few months. he said he never seen anything like that happen its like the skin fell off him.

saying that he says over first 50-70 yards he burns his bigger lurchers has yet to pick a rabbit due to injury. they do alot of ferretting he should be dynimate around the ditches.

cant comment about stamina and lamping yet as he want seen anything yet

best of luck

sorry lol still no tears

WM is that you on the left? You look a bit like Ross from Friends

The person I was talking to has pretty good knowledge, but seems to think whippets aren't worth it. I think differently of course, as WM knows

Thanks for the comments so far .... anyone else?
