Strong Stuff 2,171
Mini Maglite (AA size) used as a keyring ............ nothing wrong with that. Got a big bunch of keys? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubotan Have fun! You might want a few lazzy bands around the torch, stops it slipping. Forget batons etc, you hit someone with one of those and they don't get up (the aim?) then it is reasonably serious ........ after all you took that baton with you intending to cause someone harm with it, not good! Would have thought you could just take your 14 inch BLACK MAMBA super life like dong with you, just show them that and they'll be off!!!!!! f**k getting one of those shoved anywhere out in the wilds where no one can hear you scream

trappa 518
If you hit or hurt somebody with a weapon specific for that purpose then you will be breaking the law. An example would be if you were in your house and a burglar came into your room and you jumped up and grabbed the first thing you clapped eyes on, say, a glass, and stuck it in his face you would have an excuse-spur of the moment reaction. BUT if you heard burglars, went to the kitchen, got a glass out of the cupboard then stuck it in his face , this would be premeditated-do you see the difference? Now in your scenario, carrying a hammer or knife specifically for self defence would be illegal, but if you were to use an object upon your person that you have a legitimate excuse for carrying, say a walking stick, dog chain etc you have an excuse. The excuse being you were attacked and lashed out with the first thing that came to hand. Remember tony martin? he was only jailed because he shot a burglar in the back, had the burglar being coming for him and got shot in the chest, he may very well have not been jailed. Guest SJM
Good post trappa you make some very valid points. I keep a large metal poker behind the door in the house for self defense, along those lines of thinking because I have a fireplace so I could get away with saying It was the first thing I picked up. I used to keep an axe behind the door, but tbh it was too big and cumbersome to swing around in a close combat situation so I changed to the poker as its easier to bash someone with that than a full sized log splitter. I think on reflection the walking stick sounds the best bet. Does anyone know if its possible to get telescopic strong material ones ie metal etc which fold up neatly for in your pocket when your not using them for example? trappa 518
You might want to consider self defence classes instead of carrying weapons? a slap with the palm of your hand against the ear will stop just about anyone, as would a punch to the throat. Lots of other things that can stop an attacker dead rather than carrying. It would be wise to learn these tricks first.

Guest SJM
If someone was coming at me I would rather be able to stop them before they get within my personal space, by bashing them anywhere I could reach with some kind of lengthy object, than wait until they are close enough for me to have to slap or punch them? but I guess the self defence thing would be good to do have to look into that one , I did attend some martial arts classes a few years ago and enjoyed them, but then when we got quite good at the routines, the guy wanted us all to do this thing on stage in front of an audience and I said no, I am not paying my money every week to learn this to be entertainment for others, I want to learn it for myself and me alone, this ended up in an argument with the instructor cos he said we all had to do it before we could go on to the next level so I told him to stick his karate up his ass and that was the end of that
LDR 29
All you need to do is adapt a walking stick.......... Say get a nice antler handled knife and then you adapt a walking stick into the sheath for it!!! to all intents and purposes and anyone looking it'll just look like a stick, but to ted bundy and his band of merry men, it's eunich time!!!!!!!!! Guest SJM
Ive been looking at those Kubotans, now it says they are legal to carry in the UK why is this? is it because they have a keyring through the end?? or for some other reason??
TOMO 26,547
AGREE with socks peper or cs spray, you can get better than this though, and its somthing i have used alot whilst working in spain , GEL GAS, same as peper spray but comes out directional and in a stream , a bit like silly string. this sticks to the fooker you aim at, where as peper spray is afected by the slightest of beezes. warning if you get any of this on yourself, DO NOT ATEMPT TO WASH IT OFF, DO NOT.... all you will do is wash it deeper in to your skin pours. just walk in to the wind as quik as you can away from the agro , and let your nose and eys stream DO NOT RUB THEM. you will rub it in deeper. good peper spray and gel , put people on there arse. i was also going to say a mag lite, but the bigger 3 cell model its about a foot along, or a good THIK walking stick. you can pick the gas up no probs in spain , just put it in toilet bag in the suitcase, looks like any other body spray on exray machine. I think they are illegal aren't they? But then so is carrying anything with the specific intention of using it to cause harm to another person. That's why I suggested the Maglite, similar size etc, but I doubt the 12 good men on a Jury would believe a nice girl like you had a keyring with the specific intention of hurting someone. You can substitute a lot of stuff, am not going all Ninja here but if you hold a pen right and smash it down onto the bridge of someones nose then that's gotta hurt! Just make sure you got interesting useful things about you, anything goes when you're in the shit. Biggest thing is having the reflex and confidence to use things, seen plenty of Ninjas and other Martial Artists shit out and run away when it comes to it, but there's no way I'd get on a mat with them!! Maybe a nice little bag of sloppy dog shit in your pocket, pull the corner off the bag if you need it and squeeze, would you carry on moving forward into that? Might give you a minute to gether your thoughts ............. Exactly who are you worried about attacking you?
Guest SJM
A bag of dogshit now that is imaginative Nobody specific, just a general thing, am wary of anyone I dont know coming towards me when I am out with the dogs, I think its advantageous to be if your a female and out alone, many of the places I hunt (and plan to keep on hunting for many years to come) are miles from anywhere, no houses or people nearby, no phone signal etc
ratkilla 35
Regards to carrying pepper spray yes it's a good defense, but with our law i'm pritty sure if you are found to be carrying it you may as well be carrying an unauthorized firearm, pepper spray falls under the same category. This is sad i know we can't even carry it for self defense, i remember when you could buy this over the counter and the spray would also dye the persons face green. Asps and batons not long ago you could buy off the net in the UK, some of my mates have some from when you could buy them on the net. I think an asp would be handy to carry in the country side for self defense also for dispatching large game. But there we go the law doesn't even allow any means of self defense, at the same time before they were banned i can imagine that they were used in assaults and robbery's.
