MikeTheDog 153
Whippets cracking dogs but are they the dog for running rough ground or for running a lot of rabbits a few times a week....I personaly would go for bedlington/grey bit of hight so wont go unsighted and a bit of coat and good feet against injury also can have a run on other gear if the fancy takes you JMHO So what would the beddy/grey give you Howard?....A lurcher that would level out at maybe 23"/24" and possibly have a tendency to 'speak'!....Would that be better than a whip/grey/collie...leveling out at maybe 23"/24"? Imo all the beddy has to offer in the lurcher recipe is a woolly coat that would suit the fashion chav's. Something agile and sure footed would suit for the humble coney... Quote Link to post

Guest greengrass123
Ive got a saluki whippet , its got the whippet speed and the saluki staying power, surprised there arent more of them about. As for putting beddy blood into whippets, i think they are unbeatable on small game, never mind the coat its the beddy nose you want ,mine would mark loads of times where other dogs had passed and failed to pick up the scent. And by adding terrier blood, is there a more game dog on earth than a terrier i dont think so. Quote Link to post

Fantastic photo's MTD doing exactly what it was bred for could look at pics like these all day long, to see your dog in its element like this makes you feel proud and privileged all at the same time don't it. I don't own this breed as you can see more into my terriers, but my mate had 2 whippet's and I used to go out with him I asked him how fast he reconed his bitch called mindy could run!! quater mile later and 40 mph was the outcome! and this was on the way home!! he stopped i opened the passenger door and she jumped in on my lap! it was like leaning against a hot radiator what an amazing animal Quote Link to post
