Mr_Logic 5
I was out yesterday with the HMR, it currently has a Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40 on it. I was finding that the 12 power was a bit limiting for head shots out past 120 yards, and that it wasn't overly bright, either. So, recommendations for a sub-£200 16+ power scope welcome Things currently under consideration: AGS - VIPIR and SWAT. Know the SWAT a bit, in that I had a look at and was impressed by the 8-32. Don't know the VIPIR at all. Like the price, but are they any good? Falcon Optics - Very tempted indeed, but if possible i wanna go cheap as chips because I need to buy a 223 as well. JS Ramsbottom's own el-cheapo. Deker's 4-16x44 impressed me a lot. Hawke - Nite-Eye, I guess. Nikko Stirling - but they're not proper mil dots Thoughts? Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
I found the Simmons on Fleabay for £120, but I also found a Leupold VX-II for £220. I've put my MTC on there for now, and it seems to be doing the job thus far. Since I am getting a new rifle I will hold fire for now and wait and see... Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
I have since splashed out on a Falcon 4.5-18x56 which is excellent. Clear optics, decent enough reticle (though a bit cluttered, I have the SP20) and illumination. Not to mention repeatable adjustments. I know scopes should do this anyway but they never seem to, for me, the ability to dial correction today, based on a target shot 2 days ago, and then shoot a canada goose in the neck at 120 yards (thus preserving the carcass)... well, it's nothing short of a revelation to be honest. martin1 0
you should of whipped that wtc off jamie. best wtc you can buy that 6.5-20. how does the falcon compare to the mtc?? wasnt to keen on mtc to be honest, found them to be milky in the higher mag, when i had a go of one,was not impressed at all . Mr_Logic 5
My Falcon is optically superior to the MTC. It has bigger turrets which don't lock but which do give repeatable adjustments and can be reset. The MTC's reticle is less cluttered, personally I think it's better than the MP20 I have in the Falcon. BUT, Falcon's low light performance is streets ahead, and I can actually use maximum magnification. For me, Falcon over MTC, apart from if I were to get the Mamba, with its low-profile turrets. jamie g 17
the 6.5x20x50 is now sold lads. it is very good but not in the same league as the viper 4x16x50 i have on my 22lr. the bushnell 4200 is the best scope i have. to be honest you cant tell much difference between scope in till you have used one for abit then changed it. for instance i had the 6.5x20x50 whitetail on the hmr to start with and it was ideal for the job. then i put the bushnell 4200 on it till i had a centrefire to put the bushnell on. and it was better then the whitetail but i couldnt see that much difference in them. but now i have centrefire i put the bushnell on that off the hmr and put the whitetail on the hmr again AND NOW I CAN REALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE ITS BRIGHTER,MORE SHARPER,AND BETTER UNDER THE LAMP. use a scope for a bit then try the other ones on and you soon no the difference then.
