Those 100 grainers put shame to my 50gr BT's , mine only take part head off

 

Looks like you are having a good start to the year, as am I, Since January I have had 17 here which is an awful lot for this place and even more so considering the silage hasn't been cut yet.

Last Friday i had a call ,rather a plea for me to shoot a fox that has taken to killing chickens in a big way .Up to 15 a day by the patches of feathers i'd say. Went over for an evenings sit ,saw the bugger at distance but no shot presented itself despite ,sitting until dark . Another phone call yesterday to ask if i could snare the fox around the free-range organics .

Got there at 6.30pm with a hand full of wires and several runs in mind .After a chat with the farmer ,i was on my way .

The organic sheds are situated amongst a field of thistles and long grass ,the only clear patches are what the birds have access to .As i got through the first field gate i stopped ,luckily, to have a spy with the bins and wasnt surprised to see charlie down the far end ,obviously on a kill .Call it a sixth sense if you like but something told me there was one out there somewhere .I had the .243 with me as usual .I knew a squeak was useless ,even for a man of my talent ,so a crawl on the belly it was .I thrive on this sort of thing and a 400 yd crawl wasnt at all daunting .Used the 3 sheds to get to where i needed to crawl from and looked again with the bins .Same place ,same fox as i'd seen here before so no feckups .The wind was perfect and the ground cover just right .Got myself to within 100 yds and set up the rifle for a sitting shot .Decided on using my left eye as the rights not too special .Charlie never even looked up and i was woundering if indeed it was the same one as that was pretty cute on survival but anyway it dropped to the shot and i could see by the overall appeareance it was the culprit seen before .Phoned the farmer who was on his way down anyway having heard the shot .He was very pleased and offered me a twenty pound note which i took .This fox has to date ,taken an estimated 108 chickens if all the kills are hers .Farmer agreed that snaring wasnt needed now which gave me the chance to walk the rest of the farm with no more sightings .Had a look with the lamp later but nothing so touch wood ,thats the only one for now.
